Landmark 2008 Australian Country Football Carnival

The best country footballers in the nation will descend on Shepparton, Victoria in late July for the 2008 Landmark Australian Country Football Carnival.

Teams will battle it out for the title of Australian Country Champion over two divisions.

The Australian Country Football Carnival is a bi-annual event shared across the Australian states. 2008 sees the re-entry of the South Australian team into Division 1.

Preliminary matches will be played on Thursday 24 July and Friday 25 July with Finals to be played over two venues in the Shepparton region on Sunday 27 July.

The 2008 Landmark ACFC Championships forms part of the AFL’s 150th year celebration of Australian Rules Football, signifying the importance of country based football to the culture and heritage of our national game.

The 2008 Landmark ACFC Carnival in Shepparton will be the 20th year anniversary of the Australian Country Football Carnival.

Goulburn Valley Football League General Manager, Keith Wellman said, “this is an extremely exciting opportunity for the City and football in this area. It is an absolute privilege to be awarded the honour of hosting the prestigious 2008 Carnival especially being part of the 150th year celebration of football.”

Teams from across the nation are being assembled via championships and pool matches in each state, with the prestigious places in state teams highly sought after by country footballers.

Victoria are the current holders of the title in both divisions.

DIVISION 1: Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, West Australia.

DIVISION 2: Aboriginal All Stars, Queensland, Victoria 2.
